I was trying to connect my new Windows 10 PC to an old Netgear ReadyNAS Duo (Sparc Linux!) and it was not working. I fired up Wireshark and realized the issue was with the SMB protocol and found a fix.

I like being the hero. Being able to drop a bucket of root cause analysis on a burning network problem has made me a hero (to some people) and it feels real good, y’all. Get good at packet analysis and be the hero too. I also like french fries.

Haven’t been able to access my old ReadyNAS Duo for some time. Couldn’t get to lot’s of old photos and other media. Came across your video and activated SMB1 in windows 10, rebooted, and viola! Problem fixed. Thanks so much.
